Good Afternoon Parents, Students and friends:
Have you signed up for Beckettfest yet? There is still room in many of the classes. If you are interested PLEASE be sure to talk to your teacher and get registered. We need to have all the registrations in no later than Friday, March 11th for the class times to be properly alloted. The following is a wonderful description of this event by one of our most respected teacher, Terry Kroetsch who has examined and adjudicated for many years in many North American centers.
Thoughts of An Adjudicator: It is the season for music festivals - both competitive and non - and we start preparing to present our best work as part of 'The Game". The non-competitive Beckettfest is a chance to prepare, present and appreciate. Expert and enthusiastic listeners will share their views on a particular piece, style or performance and provide hints on how to improve and secure. In this open forum we learn from each other - closer to a master class or public lesson. What better way to use our time in the pursuit of excellence and, well, fun! It is also the perfect opportunity to get our questions answered and drop in on other instrument classes - pianists can hear singers, guitarists can observe saxophone and so on. From an adjudicator's point of view, it is a chance to air my favourite lessons regarding imagination, ornamentation and phrasing! Hail! Hail! Let the Festival begin. Sign up!
