Michael studied violin at McGill University with Mauricio Fuks.  He received his Bachelor of Music in Performance there in 1980.  Further study led him to Toronto, Vancouver and Banff.  His teachers have included Steven Staryk, Gwen Thompson, Sydney Harth and Jascha Milkis.

He joined the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony in 1983 where he is currently the Assistant Principal Second Violin.  He is a frequent performer of solo and chamber music recitals in the region.  Most recently he played the Bruch G minor violin concerto with the K-W Community Orchestra.

Michael has been an adjudicator at many festivals and competitions.  He has taught violin at the University of Guelph, University of Waterloo and has been at the Beckett School since September 2004.
