Mezzo soprano Cherry Fraser hails from Sheffield, England, a working class city in the heart of Yorkshire - the birthplace of Yorkshire pudding and Yorkshire terriers.  She moved to Canada with her family in her late teens, and after completing a two year program at Emmanuel Bible College, Cherry attended nursing school at North York General Hospital.  After a few years in the health care industry Cherry decided to follow her dream and study music.

While working as a full time nurse, going to school full time and raising two young children, Cherry graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with an Honours Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance and an Opera Diploma.

Cherry joined the Beckett School in its early days and has taught hundreds of students since that time. Many of her students have gone on to study music, drama and musical theatre professionally and participate in the Kiwanis Music Festival each year.  She has had numerous Kiwanis scholarship winners and students who have been asked to compete in the Provincial Music Festival.

Cherry still makes time for her love of performance by doing solo recitals each year and recently played the role of Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors to rave reviews.  In her spare time Cherry enjoys singing with the Sanctuary Choir of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, reading, knitting and walking Maximillion, her beloved yorkie/shit zhu.
