I’d like to personally invite you to Wilfrid Laurier University’s International
Community Music Conference “Walking the Boundaries and Bridging the Gaps” on
May 11–13, 2017.

Whether you’re able to join us for the entire event or only one day, we welcome you
to participate in workshops and lively conversations surrounding the significance of
community music.

A core focus during the conference will be the intersection between practical
teaching (studio teaching) and Community Music. With the diverse backgrounds of
our presenters, including international Community Music specialists, scholars,
educators and studio instructors, you will have the opportunity to explore
techniques, international case studies, new research, and contemporary issues
relevant to your artistry and teaching.

Here is a sampling of symposia and workshops relevant to you:

- Teaching and the Aging Student
- Incorporating Improvisation and Diverse Musical Abilities in the Studio
- Music as Leisure
- Music as Metaphor and its Application to Life Coping Skills
