Jazz Intro - Instrumental Music Camp

Summer Program

This new program is open to all school-age musicians, who are interested in expanding their musical knowledge within the jazz genre. "Intro to Jazz" will give you the musical tools to become the next best soloist in your high school jazz band, or simply help you on your way to understanding different styles of jazz music. This camp will focus on developing improvisational skills, that are to be used in any small group, combo, or big band setting. All campers will have the opportunity to showcase their skills on the last day of camp during our final concert.

Prerequisites: All registrants are required to be familiar with their Bb, Eb, and F Concert scales. Bass players and guitarists will be required to understand standard music notation and basic chord changes. Drummers should be able to perform basic Swing and Latin styles.

***Please bring your own instrument and music stand***

Please join Steve James (drummer and music teacher with the HWDSB), and Lauren Helmer (trombonist and teacher with the WRDSB), for this exciting week of Jazz music!
